Trip 2025

Checked-in early, model kids

Being one of the first ones to get to the gate, I had plenty of time to glimpse at other passengers.  One that particularly filled my time was the mom and her 2 best behaved kids.  The kids were given colorful iPads, all connected and set for their use and plenty of kids favored food packets.  They sat back, relaxed watching their program while the mom was gone for nearly an hour.  Other than the little one asking for his mommy towards the end of an hour, they engaged themselves.  I cannot imagine leaving my kids alone for such a length of time when they were that young.

Flight – Exit row

I was all set with 2 blankets since there was no one next me on either side, had the screen ready to watch.  During take-off, the hostess came rushing and takes away not one but both the blankets and sets the screen back in the slot.  I was so surprised at this behavior and was about to fight back for the blankets, until the hostess explained after the fact that those are the requirements for anyone seated in the exit row.  Well, I would have waited to get so comfortable, had I been informed beforehand.

Baggage arrival – right on time

In my years of air travel, my baggage always would be one of the last ones to arrive; if I have 2 bags, one might show-up earlier but the second would arrive way later for certain. This trip, I just got to the baggage carousel and there they are, one after the other both my luggage has arrived.  I actually waited there few minutes just out of practice!!

Wow Wedding

Phenomenal – each and every event of the wedding was well planned, carried out meticulously and there was so much joy.  The head priest was funny with explanation for all the events and made sure the bridge, groom, their parents and also the audience followed his speech.

Delicious – breakfast, lunch, dinner, in-betweens, tea, coffee, everything tasted so well and after more than a month, I still could recall taste of individual items.  By the way, the head chef is son of a famous chef, Arusuvai Natarajan.

More than welcome – this was my friend’s son’s wedding but I felt so welcomed and part of the family.  I have heard similar comments from all of my other friends.  Thank you, we enjoyed the wedding.

So cool – one of my friend’s relatives who attended the wedding is a famous film actor and it was so interesting to watch the fans’ reactions.  No wonder since he is an excellent actor; he was so down to earth and very approachable.

Connected – after so long, met with one of my good friends.  Had such a good time and it felt like we have never lost touch over the past years.  She is currently working as an event planner; feel free to contact her at www.atulyaevents.com if you have any big events coming – you won’t be disappointed.

Cataract

Glad that I was able to help out my sister when she had her cataract surgery.  The entire surgery was performed within an hour and no more dark patches over the eyes after the surgery like the olden days!  I am sure that it was bit of a challenge to wear the dark glasses even at night, though it made her look like a pompous cool kid :)).

Kochi

Yes, enjoyed the special occasion, where the 6 months child was the star.  Needless to say, equal attention was given to all the kids ages ranging from 2 to 6.  I met most of the relatives for the first time but it was a fine and friendly atmosphere.

Took a tour around Kochi.  The boat ride was fun and the view throughout the half hour ride was breath taking. Other than few vendors selling fancy stuff, the beach walk was filled with petty shops selling fish, fish and fish.  There were quite a few kite flyers taking advantage of the breeze and the waves were gentle.

Rich town Stay, Temples and Fort

Karaikudi is known as one of the richest cities in South India.  The houses are huge with beautiful wood work everywhere.  The place we stayed housed parrots, rabbits, ducks and few others.  One of my sisters is an early raiser and enjoyed her walk sightseeing them.  The breakfast was typical menu for that region and was served fresh and hot; it was delicious, unforgettably tasty.

The temples are old and the deities are beautiful; the carvings are detailed and unique.  The vibration at Pillayarpatti Karpaga Vinayakar (Ganesha) temple was intense.  Based on historic facts, the idol is one of the oldest rock cuts and dates back to 4th century AD.

Visited a fort with one gun at the top of the fort.  Due to extreme heat and challenging rock formations, I was not able to get a closer look of the gun.

Want to mention about the nearby two ancient temples, more than 1000 years old, but are maintained very well.  One of the deities carved in stone, you could see the hairline; I was so enthralled and wanted to spend time there but since it was closing time, we had to rush through.  Such an unforgettable feeling, it will stay with me forever.

Then it was time for me to return home.  Bye for now, until next trip….
